Roof calculator

Sketch a roof number before the visit.

The Nextstar roof calculator is a separate planning tool. Use it to frame the conversation. The written estimate still happens after someone is on your roof.

A planning range.Not a bid. Not a rate.

Repair, replace, or upgrade

Repair

Stop the leak, the crack, or the door that will not latch. A repair is the right call when the rest of the assembly is still sound.

Replace

When the system is used up, replace it once. The roof, the windows, the shower pan. The estimate names the material.

Upgrade

Change how the house lives. A kitchen that fits the way you cook. An ADU. A yard you can sit in. An opening between two rooms.

Example

What a written estimate covers

Not a bid

  1. 1

    Scope

Which rooms, elevations, or assemblies are in the job. If it is not listed, it is not assumed.

  2. 2

    Materials

The product, the profile, or the allowance. An allowance is a placeholder until you pick.

  3. 3

    Prep, protection, cleanup

Floors covered, plants protected, debris hauled. On an occupied house this is a real line, not a courtesy.

  4. 4

    Exclusions

Hidden rot, HOA fees, and permit fees that sit with the owner are named as out, so they do not show up later as a surprise.

  5. 5

    Changes

If the wall is worse than it looked, the price of the extra work is written before that work continues.

Three people reviewing papers at a kitchen table

A quote gets walked through on paper, at the house.

Four steps. Then a walkthrough.

  1. 01

    Tell us the project

Name, phone, ZIP, and the trade. You get a reference number. Sending the form does not book a visit.

  2. 02

    Walk the house

A lead looks at the actual assembly: the roof, the wall, the shower, the yard. Photos and measurements, not a guess from the curb.

  3. 03

    Write the scope

What is in, what is out, the material, and a schedule you can read. Allowances are labeled as allowances.

  4. 04

    Build it, then walk it

The crew works the written scope. At the end you walk it with the lead before anyone calls the job done.

What to hold the crew to

A scope before demo

Nothing comes out until the work is written down: rooms, assemblies, materials, and exclusions.

A license you can look up

Nextstar Remodeling, CSLB #1065646. Check it on the state board’s site. We would rather you do that than take our word.

A house you can live next to

Floors protected, debris hauled, and a person who answers the phone. Occupied remodels get a daily cleanup, not a promise taped to the fridge.

Straight answers

Does sending the form book a crew?

No. It asks for a quote. You get a reference number. Someone from the office follows up during business hours by the method you allowed. A visit is scheduled after that, not by the form.

Are you licensed?

Nextstar Remodeling holds CSLB License #1065646. Look that number up on the Contractors State License Board site. The license belongs to Nextstar Remodeling. Nextstar Connect is the name on this site.

Do you offer financing?

Homeowners can ask about payment options through a lending partner. Nextstar Connect is not the lender. Subject to credit approval. Terms vary. This site does not quote rates.

Where do you work?

Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego County. The office is at 1968 S Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach. If your ZIP is outside those counties, say so on the form and we will tell you plainly.

What should the written estimate include?

Scope, materials, prep and cleanup, exclusions, and how a change gets priced. There is an example of that layout on this page. It is an example, not a bid for your house.

Can I price a roof before I call?

Yes. The roof calculator is a separate tool for a planning range. The written estimate still happens after a site look.

Ready for a number you can hold them to?
